UK to rejoin EU’s Horizon science programme

After months of wrangling, procrastination and uncertainty – which threatened at times to upend Cambridge’s life sciences sector, one of the few jewels in the UK’s economic crown – the UK is to return to the European Union’s £85 billion Horizon research programme. The breakthrough was welcomed by UK scientists who were frozen out of the scheme in a row over post-Brexit rules.
