Last week, Ed Orgeron secured the biggest win of his coaching career with a road victory over rival Alabama.

On Saturday, the head coach of the No. 1 LSU Tigers secured the bag.

LSU’s 58-37 victory over Ole Miss moved the Tigers to 10-0 on the season and, according to the incentives section of his contract, the 10th win of a season triggers a $250,000 bonus for Orgeron.

On the other sideline, Ole Miss will have to beat Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl to pick up a third Southeastern Conference win, which would generate a $150,000 bonus for coach Matt Luke.

Orgeron’s base salary is $4 million, according to the USA TODAY Sports coaches’ salaries database. Last season, he made $225,000 in bonuses.

Opinion: Don’t blame Nick Saban for Tua Tagovailoa’s injury in Alabama’s win

The more LSU wins, the better for Orgeron, especially in the later stages of the season. With lowly Arkansas — which has already fired head coach Chad Morris this season — up next, Orgeron could make an additional $100,000 for the Tigers’ 11th victory of the year. If LSU can complete an undefeated regular season at 12-0, Orgeron would take home another $150,000, for a total of $500,000. The Tigers face Texas A&M in the regular season finale.

If all of that comes to fruition, Orgeron would be in line to maximize his postseason incentives. LSU’s participation in the Southeastern Conference title game next month would give him a $100,000 bonus, and winning that game would net an additional $200,000. Then, it would be on to the College Football Playoff and the prospect of as much as $900,000 more in bonuses.

A possible conference title or Playoff participation aside, it’s shaping up to be a lucrative few weeks for Coach O.
