London stocks eye weekly gain on boost from miners

By Shashwat Chauhan (Reuters) – UK’s exporter-heavy FTSE 100 rose on Friday, boosted by mining stocks as metal prices rose on hopes of a recovery in China, while overnight comments from a Federal Reserve official backing a measured pace of rate hikes helped sentiment. The blue-chip FTSE 100 gained 0.2%, while the more domestically focussed FTSE 250 midcap index added 0.4%. For the week, both the indexes are on track to rise more than 1%.
