In February 2020, the last Chevrolet Impala Sedan came off the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly line, as General Motors closed production at the factory following a 2018 restructuring. Since then, GM has been designing a plant that will supposedly be the first of its kind. The renovations alone have cost GM a whopping $2.2 billion, and the factory is scheduled to finish construction by the end of the year.
