The Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2020 qualifier in Geneva will go ahead following a pitch inspection.

With rain falling all day in Geneva and water lying on the pitch, the game appeared under threat but was given the go-ahead by referee Szymon Marciniak.

The Polish referee took the decision at 18: 00 BST.

A win will see the Republic qualifying for Euro 2020 and almost certainly end Switzerland’s hopes with Denmark the other contenders in Group D.
