“We have fired Nancy Pelosi,” tweeted House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy of California a day after his party narrowly won back control of the House. Fired? Not quite. She plans to stick around and, as things look now, Congress could use her advice. Technically she will have to step down from her position as the first woman to serve as speaker of the House, a position second in line of succession to the president.
