Amazon retrains its Astro home robot as watch dog for businesses

Amazon has found a new job for its household robot Astro, launched two years ago to limited success in private homes. Astro is now being dispatched as a guard dog to patrol small and medium-sized businesses like supermarkets, after the small screen on wheels had a lukewarm response among many reviewers in spite of its disarmingly cute design. This autonomous surveillance camera is far from cheap, although some businesses may see it as less expensive than a human security guard.
