MANILA, Philippines — Boosting artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia could significantly help the country fulfill its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Tokyo-based Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) said. The multilateral lender’s think tank said AI could contribute $1 trillion to the whole Southeast Asian economy by 2030, but progress in technology in the region remains slow. China’s tech giant Huawei says it’s sticking to its smartphone business outside of Asia despite the devastating consequences of US sanctions. “We will continue to bring new smartphones to European markets,” Western Europe boss William Tian said on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress mobile phone trade fair in Barcelona.
